Blythe Danner has praised Gywneth Paltrow and Chris Martin for their "extraordinary relationship".
The former couple - who have children Apple, 11 and nine-year-old Moses together - split in 2014 after over 10 years of marriage - and Gwyneth's mother Blythe, 73, is impressed with how close they have remained for the sake of the kids.
Speaking on chat show 'Lorraine', she said: "They have this extraordinary relationship. The kids come first, they're supportive of one another and this isn't just 'la-di-da' positive, this is absolutely true.
"They had this conscious uncoupling which some people questioned and say, well what's that? They've made it work, the kids come first, the family comes first.
"We do Christmas and the holidays and I'm really proud of them. They've made it work so well."
And Blythe was also full of praise for Oscar-winning Gwyneth's acting skills.
Referring to her daughter's decision to cut back on her acting roles in recent years, she said: "'I've learned a lot from her. She's an extraordinary mother and such a brilliant actress.
"I'm hoping as the children get older she will come back to [acting] because to me there's no-one like her, she can do anything."
