The 'Gossip Girl' star admits she once tried to stray away from films as all her family had worked in the movie industry.

She told the new issue of Marie Claire magazine: "I didn't want to be an actor, because they were all doing it.

"When you're the youngest of five kids, you think,' Who am I?' If this is who they are, and they're shaping who I am so much, then who would I be? You strive for your own identity."

And the 28-year-old actress - who has 17-month-old daughter James with Ryan Reynolds and is expecting her second child - previously revealed she had to take a two year break from acting as she was "exhausted both physically and creatively".

She shared: "I felt exhausted, both physically and creatively. So I really wanted some time to myself and to focus on other things that I loved, so that when I did it again I would be really re-invigorated. It took a movie that I really couldn't say no to, you know, because there's plenty that I would have done, but it was really important to have that time. So when I read that one, I said, 'I can't not be in this movie, I have to do this movie.'"

Meanwhile, Blake previously revealed that despite her international fame, she wants her child to have as normal a life as possible.

She said: "Ryan had a nice, normal upbringing, and we want our kids to have the same normal life that we had. We don't ever want to rob them of what we had, because we'd feel really selfish.

"I'd rather not have to deal with it at all, but we knew the lifestyle we were getting into, and while it's hard ... it's another thing when it's our child. She didn't have the opportunity to make a decision about what she wants."
