Beyonce always wants to be a "strong woman".
The 34-year-old singer felt it was important to put on a spectacular performance when she did the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013 for the sake of the "ladies".
She said: "It's always important for me to be a strong woman.
"There haven't been that many women that have done Super Bowl halftime shows - I had to hold it down for the ladies."
The 'Formation' singer was joined by her former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for part of the performance and hopes she put on a show that people will "never forget".
In a rare TV interview, she told CBS: "It's one of those magical performances you can't recreate.
"I wanted it to be something iconic and something that people would never forget."
Meanwhile, Beyonce will join Coldplay during their performance at this evening's (07.02.16) Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
However, the group's frontman, Chris Martin, recently confirmed she won't be singing 'Hymn For The Weekend', their recent collaboration, during the performance because it is too new.
He said: "It only just came out, so I don't think it would be quite right. We love Beyoncé's music. She's one of our all-time favourites, and she's one of the greatest performers I've ever witnessed.
Everyone who does this show knows it's the biggest honour."
