Benedict Cumberbatch still finds fame surreal.
'Sherlock' star Benedict Cumberbatch has admitted he still can't believe he gets recognised when he's filming in the US, and he doesn't quite realise how famous he has become.
Benedict dstill hasn't quite adjusted to the idea of being known around the world, and he was shocked to be recognised while filming in Oklahoma.
"I thought, 'Oh, I won't get recognised here' But the first café I walked into, the waitresses were like - 'Oh my God! Aren't you on television? Don't you play Sherlock Holmes?' "It's amazing the spread of that thing, it's incredible."
The 37-year-old British actor isn't only struggling to come to terms with being known in the US - he's also recently admitted he still gets "starstruck" when he meets his idols.
He said: "[I'm starstruck] every time I've met someone famous who I've been in the audience of. I have the same butterflies and inability to be cool.
"I approach them as a fellow member of the human race, as the next person in their audience does.
"I've been doing this for 10 odd years, and so to meet people who thrilled me with their work for my entire life in such a concentrated manner, as has happened over the last few years, has been mind-blowing. One of the many perks of my job, I guess."
