Ariel Winter's mother has been ordered to return almost $4,000 to her father.
The 'Modern Family' star, who plays Alex Dunphy on the comedy series, was placed under the temporary guardianship of her older sister, Shanelle Grey, in October 2012 after she claimed her mother, Chrisoula Workman, was abusing her physically and emotionally.
A judge in Los Angeles ruled on Friday (28.02.14) that Chrisoula must formally turn over nearly $4,000 in residual cheques to the 16-year-old star's father, Glen Workman, who has control of his daughter's finances.
He claimed that Chrisoula cashed their daughter's cheque and deposited it into the account of the young actress' production company.
The judge ordered Chrisoula to turn over the money by March 14, and was told not to make any representations that she is still affiliated with the production company, Winter Sky, according to gossip website RadarOnline.com.
Ariel previously admitted she has never been happier and feels like a "normal" teenager since moving in with her sister.
She said: "My life is definitely more normal -- and that'll help me grow up like I'm supposed to.
"Sunday we have family dinner. It's just a different experience for me because I have more of a family life. I'm really happy.
"My sister is the most amazing woman I've ever met in my life. If I could be half the woman she is ... she's kind of who I want to be like.
"[Shanelle] supports me in everything I do, and so does my brother-in-law David. Both are kind of like my biggest supporters."
