The 'Problem' hitmaker - who has been accused of licking and spitting on donuts in a bakery - has uploaded a video to her YouTube channel, apologising for what happened.

She said: "Hiya it's me. Forgive my puffy cheeks please, I'm making this video from wisdom teeth recovery hell.

"But I just wanted to make a video to apologise again for the whole donut fiasco and craziness because I feel like the apology I posted, I kind of missed my opportunity to actually sincerely apologise and express how I was feeling, because I was too busy preaching about my issues with the food industry, which is not, I feel like, relative."

The 22-year-old singer also admitted she was "disgusted" with herself but failed to issue a public apology to the shop where the incident took place.

She continued: "But yeah, here I am apologising to y'all, puffy cheeks and all because I feel like seeing a video of yourself behaving poorly that you have no idea that was taken is such a rude awakening that it's like you don't know what to do.

"I was so disgusted with myself, I like wanted to shove my face into a pillow and like disappear, but instead of that I'm going to come forward and own up to what I did and take responsibility and say I'm sorry because I reacted in a way that I feel like wasn't necessary to say the least but also just wasn't me at all."

Ariana previously suggested she was trying to make a point about healthy eating when she licked the sugary treat.

She said earlier this week: "I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole.

"The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies. We need to demand more from our food industry."
