Angelina Jolie says her new movie Unbroken has allowed her to pay tribute to the men that she loves.
Jolie is back in the director's chair with World War II drama Unbroken, which tells the incredible story of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini was an Olympic runner who was captured by the Japanese during the war.
While Unbroken is a biopic that tells an incredible true story, Jolie says that this movie demonstrates that she knows her husband and son both 'intimately' and 'emotionally'.
Speaking to the Sunday Times, Jolie said: "I don't feel it's a woman's touch as much as it's how a woman loves and respects men.
"And I look at this, and I see my son, and Brad, and it's me paying respect to the men I love, showing them I know them intimately and I know them emotionally.
"And they're not just cool to me when they're being tough. They're cool when they're able to be vulnerable to."
Unbroken marks the second film in Jolie's directing career and comes after she made her debut with In The Land of Blood and Honey back in 2011.
The movie is already being tipped as one to watch during the awards season and Jolie herself could be in the Best Director mix when the Oscar nominations are announced at the beginning of next year.
It looks like Jolie is going to move away from acting to focus more on her directing career, and she has already finished working on her next project By The Sea.
By The Sea will see her star as well as direct as she teams up with Pitt for the first time since Mr & Mrs Smith - this movie will also mark the first time that she has directed Pitt.
Unbroken is released 26th December.
