Amber Heard will not file a police report against Johnny Depp because she "still loves" him.
The 'Magic Mike XXL' star's lawyers announced earlier this week she would officially make a complaint about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of her estranged husband, but insiders claim she has now had a change of heart.
Sources told TMZ the 30-year-old actress "still loves" the 'Black Mass' star - who she filed for divorce from last month - and "doesn't want to bury him" with the allegations, and so doesn't want to make a police report as she feels it would trigger an arrest and subsequent prosecution.
However, sources close to the 52-year-old actor have dismissed Amber's apparent sympathy, insisting she deliberately timed her allegations to co-incide with the release of his new movie 'Alice Through the Looking Glass', which has tanked at the box office, taking just $65 million internationally on its opening weekend, a figure even lower than was projected just for US sales.
Earlier this week, Amber's claimed the 'Danish Girl' actress was "forced" into making a statement because of the backlash surrounding her allegations of abuse.
Samantha F. Spector and co-counsel Joseph P. Koenig said: "As the result of Amber's decision to decline giving an initial statement to the LAPD, her silence has been used against her by Johnny's team. Amber did not provide a statement to the LAPD in an attempt to protect her privacy and Johnny's career.
"Johnny's team has forced Amber to give a statement to the LAPD to set the record straight as to the true facts, as she cannot continue to leave herself open to the vicious false and malicious allegations that have infected the media. Amber has suffered through years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Johnny."
Amber's legal team went on to claim they always "took the high road" and insisted their client is not motivated by money.
They continued: "We took the high road. Unfortunately, Johnny's team immediately went to the press and began viciously attacking Amber's character. Amber is simply a victim of domestic violence, and none of her actions are motivated by money.
"Amber is a brave and financially independent woman who is showing the courage of her convictions by doing the right thing against Johnny's relentless army of lawyers and surrogates. The Family Law Court is not going to be influenced by misinformation placed in the social media based on anonymous sources. Amber is the victim. Amber is a hero."
