Amanda Bynes' parents have filed court documents to become her temporary conservators.

Rick and Lynn Bynes hired respected attorneys Tamar Arminak and Patrick Reider, and officially applied to gain legal control of the actress's personal welfare and financial affairs on Thursday (25.07.13), as she remains under an involuntary hold in a psychiatric hospital in California.

A judge will review their petition at a hearing, which is expected to be private, on Friday (26.07.13) at the Ventura County Superior Courthouse in Oxnard, according to gossip website RadarOnline.com.

The 27-year-old actress, who is allegedly showing signs of Schizophrenia in hospital, was brought there by police after they arrested her for starting a small fire in an elderly woman's driveway in the 'Easy A' star's native Thousand Oaks, California, on Monday (22.07.13), during which she accidentally soaked her Pomeranian puppy in gasoline.

A source said the lawyers "were able to get the judge to agree to hear the matter on Friday because of the urgency of Amanda's situation."

The family insider added: "Amanda's parents are truly afraid their daughter will die if the conservatorship isn't granted."

Amanda allegedly flew back to Los Angeles from New York because she could no longer afford a place to live and it has now emerged that Britney Spears' former manager, Sam Lutfi, bought her plane ticket.

A source said: "The two became friends in recent months.

"It's very concerning to say the very least, given Sam's history with Britney Spears leading up to her father, Jamie Spears, getting a conservatorship over his daughter, and getting a restraining order preventing Lutfi from having any contact with her."
