Viola Davis has adopted a baby girl
Viola Davis has become a first-time mum - she's adopted a baby girl.
The Oscar nominee's husband Julius Tennon revealed their adoption plans in August on the red carpet of her movie The Help, and the pair became proud parents over the weekend after taking in the tot.
Davis' The Help co-star Octavia Spencer revealed the happy news as she paid tribute to her pal at the ELLE Women in Hollywood event in Los Angeles on Monday, telling the crowd the star became a mother, "like, two days ago".
When Davis took to the stage she confirmed the news, revealing her new daughter is called Genesis.
Tennon already has two children from previous relationships.
