The final blow, to what appears to have been a rocky few weeks for the couple, came when Reid sold pictures of himself wrestling with Price’s son, Junior.
The glamour model was reportedly trying to remove her three children, all from previous marriages, from the public eye.
Price, aka Jordan, is said to have asked her husband to move out of the marital home so that she can change the locks.
Reid has asked Price for an estimated £700,000 of her £30million fortune; however the couple did not sign a pre-nup. It has also been reported that Price has offered Reid £1million if he stays silent about their marriage.
Price is said to believe that she has given Reid enough already after he has signed a magazine deal and taken part in TV work during their marriage, before which he was relatively unknown.
The initial statement announcing the couples split was drawn up eight days ago but although Price signed Alex didn’t, forcing Price to stay with family and friends.
Bob and Carol, Reid’s parents, are said to be upset with the way their son has been treated. A friend of the couple said: “They are devastated and bewildered by the whole circus. Carol feels betrayed by Katie.”
Friends of the cage-fighter claim that he has turned to his transvestite alter ego, Roxanne, to cope with his depression over the split. After refusing to leave the house, he is now effectively squatting.
A pal said: "Katie has told him to get out, but is actually worried about his state of mind.
"As soon as he does go she'll change the locks - but that won't happen until she's convinced he isn't going to do something stupid. Alex is in a very dark place."
