Recovering from a near-fatal skiing accident, Michael Schumacher is reportedly spending £115,000 a week on treatment.
In 2013, the Grand Prix champion was placed in a medically induced coma for six months to help his body cope with the serious injuries he sustained while skiing in the French Alps.
Schumacher recovered at a rehabilitation clinic in Switzerland before moving home to his mansion in Lake Geneva, where a state-of-the-art treatment facility was installed, complete with a team of highly trained medical staff.
This level of healthcare is costing the F1 legend dearly, with medical bills rising by a further £2m since February, when the total was reported to be £10m.
The bills are chipping away at Schumacher's £520m fortune, and in an attempt to cover the mounting costs, the Schumachers have sold their private jet and holiday home.
The Schumacher family, led by devoted wife Corinna, closely guard their privacy in this difficult time, but Mick, Schumacher's son, told an FQ commentator that Michael was improving "very slowly".
The driver's manager, Sabine Kehm, said: "We are happy to say still he does improve and I say this always considering the severeness of the injury he had.
"But of course it will take a very long time for everybody involved to fight, and we are happy to take this fight."
