Lamar Odom is trying to stay positive.
The 35-year-old basketball star is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after collapsing at a brothel in Nevada following a drugs and alcohol binge earlier this month and although he has a long way to go, insiders insist he is determined to be grateful he has survived.
A source told HollywoodLife.com: "One thing that is important for Lamar, and something he's really concentrating on, is not letting any negative thoughts affect his recovery. He's remained very positive through all his issues, despite not having much mobility, which is something that could've got him down being the athlete he is.
"Lamar is aware that he's been given a second chance, and is thankful to God for giving him the opportunity to right his wrongs."
And Lamar is also said to be determined to get better for his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, 31, after she rushed to his hospital bedside and called off their divorce.
The insider added: "Khloe has been highly encouraged by his motivation to overcome the hurdle of knowing he has a long battle of rehabilitation ahead. He's determined to get better for himself, for Khloe and for everyone else who has shown him love and support."
