Pietersen was told by England's director of cricket, Andrew Strauss, in May that he would not be selected for the Three Lions in the near future and was offered a consultant role with the limited-overs team, which he declined.
However the 35 year-old Pietersen, it seems, has had a change of heart, saying he would gladly assist if he was approached.
Pietersen told BBC Radio Four: "Of course I'd like to help. I love English cricket. I want these guys to do well and I love seeing what [coaches] Trevor Bayliss and Paul Farbrace are doing.
"I haven't a clue whether I will be asked and I certainly don't worry about it."
The former Surrey player also revealed that some players have called him for advice but don't want to be named as they fear they will be in trouble.
Pietersen continued: "I think that it is a sad, sad state that the messages that I receive from some of the current players are that it is difficult for them to ask me questions and advice because they fear they might get into trouble for getting in touch with me."
