Everton midfielder Darron Gibson reportedly collided with a cyclist on Park Road, Trafford, while driving his sports car - a Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo worth £125,000.
Gibson, who has 25 caps for the Republic of Ireland, was arrested on Sunday night following the incident, and now faces charges of reckless driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop after a road traffic collision.
The Everton star, who was over the drink-driving limit, reportedly crashed into a petrol pump after fleeing the scene of the accident. Garage workers told The Sun that the police responded quickly, and that CCTV footage had been handed over.
"He has been bailed to appear at Trafford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 1 September," said a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police.
