The 37-year-old sportsman fronts the new BBC Two show that sees 29 of the fittest men and women in the UK face the toughest endurance challenges, and Freddie has admitted to feeling "guilty" because the experience was so gruelling.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "Part of me felt a little bit guilty. There people are going through absolute hell and you want to give them a Mars bar or something to keep their spirits up."
Freddie said his background as a cricketer didn't compare to the endurance fitness levels of the show's contestants, but he empathised with their psychological battles.
He shared: "Playing cricket and seeing these guys are obviously poles apart. Getting them up at one in the morning and spraying them with water and trying to break them, basically...
"I was more interested in the mental aspect of it, whereby people think they've reached their limit and they push on through that. I can relate to that a little more than the physical stuff."
Meanwhile, Freddie also revealed he has no interest in starring on 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!', despite winning the first series of the Australian version earlier this year.
The former cricket star said: "I wasn't interested in doing the other one, to be honest. It was one of them where they kept asking and I'd run out of excuses to not do it.
"It's a different show to the British one. It's shown earlier, so it's family viewing - it's not about people swearing and having arguments. It's more of a family show."
'Special Forces: Ultimate Hell Week' can be seen on Sunday at 9pm on BBC Two.
