‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ star Britt Ekland was commenting on how the industry treats its gay stars after watching ‘The Tailor-Made Man’ – a musical which depicts how many were told to remain in the closet during Hollywood’s golden age.

She said: “You know, I don’t actually believe things have changed that much.”

The 70-year-old actress suggested some of the biggest stars in the world would have their careers ruined if they came out publically.

She added: “I mean, just imagine if George Clooney happened to be gay. Of course he is not, because has had lots of beautiful girlfriends in his life.

“But the point is, if he were, he would be well-advised to keep it private. It would ruin his career if it came out. I wish it weren’t the case, but that is how it still is.”

When Britt was looking to make her name as an actress, she worked during a time when the studio bosses were extremely conservative, when they told her she couldn’t even be seen with a cigarette or a glass in her hand.
