The first 'Suicide Squad' reviews are out (both good and bad) but director David Ayer isn't going to stay quiet on the negative ones.

Ayer is proud of his movie and is sure DC Comics fans are going to love it.

Taking to his Twitter account to take on the detractors, he wrote: "Prefiero morir de pie que vivir de rodillas - Emiliano Zapata" and explained: "Zapata quote is my way of saying I love the movie and believe in it. Made it for the fans. Best experience of my life (sic)."

Ayer's front foot approach follows him shouting out "f**k Marvel" as he introduced 'Suicide Squad' at the film's world premiere at the Beacon Theater in New York City on Monday night (01.08.16).

The director was getting ready to screen his anti-hero movie when a fan in the audience blurted out an anti-Marvel insult prompting him to blast DC's long-time comic book rival and big screen competitor.

However, rather than fan the flames of war between fans of the two companies, Ayer took to Twitter to apologise for his remark admitting he got "caught up in the moment" and assured everyone he respects the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He tweeted: "Sorry about getting caught up in the moment and saying f*ck Marvel. Someone said it. I echoed. Not cool. Respect for my brother filmmakers."

Rather than all living under one happy superhero umbrella it definitely feels us though it's an us and them scenario when it comes to DC and Marvel.
