I love writing
I love writing. It's something I didn't discover until I was about 28 years old. I hadn't so much as written a short story before that time. One day when working on a free-writing exercise for a university course I was taking at the time, I started writing down some ideas I'd had running around in my head, and before I knew it, I had written out a few chapters of something far more extensive than what I had begun working on. After six months of tapping away here and there, I had written my first novel. Since then, I've written seven novels. I couldn't imagine life without writing.
I love hearing from readers
Receiving a positive review of a book I’ve written is one thing, but being contacted by a reader to hear how my words have impacted their lives is a fantastic feeling. I love to converse with anyone and everyone who has read my work and will always take the time to respond to people no matter how busy I am.
I’m in awe that anyone reads my work
It’s humbling to think that anyone would spend their valuable free time reading my work when there are a million other authors in the world with compelling stories to tell. It’s an honor to be able to write for an audience and to discover that readers will stay up late at night reading my work.
I read most genres
I love the twists and turns of a good psychological thriller more than anything else, but I also enjoy reading other genres as well. Some of my favorites include science fiction, WWII historical fiction, fantasy, and anything that pushes the boundaries of literary fiction. I read every day and am amazed at the amount of talent we have available at our fingertips.
I used to be a 3D animator
When I left high school, I had great ambitions to do something creative. I spent five years (and a lot of money) studying 3D animation and managed to land a contract working on a kids TV show with a large studio near where I lived. I thought I had the perfect job until the global financial crisis made having such a position quite awkward for anyone who didn't want to travel for work. 3D animation taught me a lot about story on a sub-conscious level and most likely led me to become an author.
I'm Australian
I live about an hour outside of Melbourne, Australia. I write in US English and have to regularly stop myself from using Australian variants when it comes to spelling. It's also a challenge to make sure I don't use expressions or a description that a US reader will not have heard of before. This is where a good editor helps me to get things right.
I married my high school sweetheart
I've been married for over eight years now to my high school sweetheart. She has been the biggest supporter of my writing from day one. We are best friends and have been together for almost 15 years. Not a day goes by that I don't count myself as lucky for having her in my life.
I love being a father.
I have a two-year-old daughter who is an absolute barrel of laughs. I love watching her grow and learn all about the world. We've read to her every night since she was a week old and have turned her into a huge bookworm. Before she came along, I was writing a book here and there and not really taking things too seriously. As soon as she arrived into our lives, I felt compelled to knuckle down and put everything into my writing.
I'm epileptic
When I was about 14, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. At the time I was having seizures in my sleep that the doctors could not explain. It was a hard point in my life, but fortunately, I was able to find the right medication to keep the problem under control. I count myself as very fortunate compared to those who suffer from seizures on a daily basis.
I’ve never been overseas
At thirty-two I’m yet to travel beyond the borders of Australia and experience the world outside of what I know. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and I plan on traveling with my family as soon as my daughter is old enough to enjoy the experience.
The Last Thing I Saw

But all she can remember is the last thing she saw before she blacked out: a pair of cold, dark eyes… An addictive and page-turning psychological thriller that will having you looking over your shoulder and checking the doors are locked.
