As I often say, ‘72 ain’t no age at all!’
Here are seven things I do to remain feeling sassy and youthful:
Wrinkles
To help prevent wrinkles, this eye mask does a fine job. Mix one quarter-teaspoon of ginger powder into one half-teaspoon of raw honey – these two ingredients are fantastic for wrinkles, as honey nourishes skin and ginger improves blood flow. Gently massage the mixture into the skin around your eyes, leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse off. Follow this by massaging the under-eye area with a dab of coconut oil, and when you go to bed dab a little Vaseline over your eye cream – his seals it in to give better results.
Cellulite
This method is good to do twice a week; combine one tablespoon of ground coffee with one tablespoon of coconut oil and one teaspoon of sea salt. Caffeine is a skin saviour! It’s packed with antioxidants that stimulate skin cells and turn dead skin into silk. Mix the ingredients, get in the shower, wet your body and then apply the mixture with a loofah and scrub well, before rinsing off with warm water.
Wellbeing
I’m a juice fan, and beetroot is one of my favourites! It’s a great source of nutrients and vitamins that help lower blood pressure and cleanse the blood. Carrot juice promotes a healthy heart and glowing skin, while tomato juice is packed with vitamins B and C, potassium and antioxidants for good overall health. If you don’t wish to make your own, buy a good quality carton and add the following ingredients to one glass of juice to further boost the immune system – one teaspoon of fresh grated ginger, one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice or a pinch of fenugreek and black pepper.
Argentinian Tango
This keeps me in touch with my sensuality, is a great way to keep fit and is enjoyable!
Fabulous Skin
For fabulous skin, think fruits! Kiwi is what we call a glycolic acid fruit, which means it contains natural acids and enzymes that are great for exfoliating and shrinking pores. Use the inside of the kiwi skin to rub over your face – after ten minutes, rinse off and mash one third of a ripe banana, which is a super potassium skin nourisher! Apply the banana around eyes, on your face and neck, leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse off. If you do this three nights in a row, I know you’ll see a glow!
Essential oils
Essential oils are all that we need to turn basic face products into those worthy of praise! Purchase a bottle of geranium and a bottle of frankincense oil, sprinkle six drops each into a 100ml pot of face cream and stir well. Those two oils are a healing, wrinkle-busting, skin-brightening duo that take any cream or skin toner to the next level. To help lift my mood, I also sprinkle neroli oil in my bathtub.
Low Libido
On my travels, I met a doctor from the Andes who swore by maca root, which contains a high level of zinc (an essential mineral to fire up sex hormones). She showed me a report that said ‘women who took maca reported improved sexual satisfaction.’ You never know, this may come in useful for some!
