I have a tiny dog named Lady. She’s part weenie and part Mystery Dog—we got her from someone who got her from a shelter so we have no idea what all is in there. I love her so much.
My very first concert was Hilary Duff for the Metamorphosis Tour in 2004 and she blew my mind. I don’t have much to add to this one, it was just life-altering. Thank you Hilary Duff for inventing live music.
I like to draw. I’m practicing a lot, mostly because I want to get good enough to draw fanart of my favorite characters. And maybe my own characters!
My favorite movie of all time is Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002). To this day, if I need inspiration for a project, I listen to the Spirit soundtrack which is entirely voiced by gentle rock singer Bryan Adams. I googled Spirit just now to make sure I had the release year correct and apparently it got a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is obscene. It’s a perfect movie.
I love to cook, especially Southern food. I’m French and Spanish Creole and I grew up in North Carolina, so I kind of split my cooking between things like gumbo and red beans & rice and things like North Carolina pulled pork BBQ (Eastern style, obviously).
I also love to bake sweet things. Especially pies. I’m really bad at making them look pretty but they always taste good.
I’m on a mission to try as many cuisines as I can. I currently live in Los Angeles, and it’s the first time I’ve lived in a big city with lots of different types of food from all over the world. One of my favorites so far is Ethiopian food. And dim sum! That’s another mission: try every dim sum dumpling on the menu.
Right now, I’m doing revisions on IRON HEART (CRIER’S WAR #2) and also working on my third book, a stand-alone YA fantasy! I can’t say too much, but I promise it’s about lesbians. And magic. Magic lesbians.
