PRESENTS! We all know that a huge part of the holiday is gift-giving. Put together a care-package for someone special or find a local charity. Especially around the holidays, schools and churches adopt families in need and are always taking donations.
MOVIES AND BOOKS! Watch your favorite Christmas film. Carve out time in your busy schedule for a little Christmas magic. And if you don't have a spare two hours at one time, grab a Christmas book from a library or second-hand shop of choice and carry it with you everywhere you go this season. You'd be amazed how much you'd read if you filled all those moments, waiting in lines or having that coffee, with turning pages. And it would put you in the holiday mood for sure.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY! Call up the local library or check in your neighborhood to see if there's a book club. Being with people definitely adds to the festive mood, and you might make a lifelong friend or two in the process.
DECORATIONS! Get those Christmas colors into your house! Put up some red and green, or white and silver--whatever your preference. No space for a tree? White paint and glitter will transform any pinecone into a tiny little snowy scene. A red throw will spice up your space in a hurry. Decorating for the holidays doesn't have to be grand to send that all-important message of cheer.
TREAT YOURSELF! We all know that it's better to give than to receive, but sometimes you deserve a little pampering too. Find that one thing within your budget and get it. It could be something as simple as allowing yourself time in the library to check out that book you've always wanted to read.
ATMOSPHERE! Take a walk or a drive past all the Christmas decorations, and if it's too cold for you, all you need to do is go to your local mall. Spending time taking in the lights and the decorations will definitely get you into the holiday frame of mind.
THANKFULNESS! Make a mental list of things you're thankful for this holiday, and focus on adding one thing to that list every day this Christmas. You could even write them down and see how far you've come by the New Year.
