A seed, I burst forth
Into a sapling grew
Wanted to grow big and strong
So I sent my roots down
Deep and firm my foundation
As I dreamed of days
Filled with summer fun
Children laughing/playing
Until day was done
My branches spread out
Straight and long
To hold children's weight
As they climb up to the sky
Can view their world
As if with birds eyes
Maybe they'll make a swing
With a rope and tire
Then push each other
To soar higher and higher
But you stole my future
With your hate
And now, for me
It is too late
Hung on my branch
For all to see
Young person dying
Needlessly
His spirit will join
The others here
Anchored in death
They remain near
Innocent or guilty
It matters not
Their presence engulfs me
In gloom and rot
Never to be filled
With a child's glee
As everyone tries
To avoid me
