When it comes to our health, it’s all about the choices we make. Ultimately, we all make decisions about what we eat and drink every single day, and trust me I know, after seeing thousands of clients on a clinical basis for over 15 years, the massive impact these choices can have on our physical and mental states.
Good food choices can make ALL the difference between amazing glowing skin, beautiful restful sleep, perfect digestion, clear white eyes, hormones that stay balanced, muscles and bones that support our bodies and a clear strong mind. In the world that we are living in right now, mental health is a fundamental issue, so subsequently eating the right foods can take you from a bad day to a great day! The key is consistency! Small steps – big changes.
Also don’t think just because your grandmother, or your father or your auntie or uncle suffered from a certain disease that this is your fate. You have over a 100 trillion cells in your body all doing the most fabulous job to keep you fit and healthy. Your cells are growing, repairing and rejuvenating all the time, every single day. So just because you had a day of ice-creams and donuts yesterday, doesn’t mean that’s what you have to have today!
Start making changes, and slowly but surely you will feel your energy rising, your stress lifting and your mind able to focus. You will feel more inspired to go for a long walk, a run, a swim, a dance class. Whatever it is that takes your fancy you will be more motivated to do it. If you know you are carrying excess weight, especially round your waistline, which by the way is the most dangerous place - and is linked to heart disease and strokes - then start making changes today. Every minute, every hour, every day is a brand-new day, and you do not need to suffer the same diseases as your family. Your body knows what to do, if you give it the right tools. Genetics load the gun, but lifestyle pulls the trigger!
My book, The Art of Healthy Living, was written from the knowledge I gained from my own health struggles, that I was able to overcome with the power of good nutrition and lifestyle decisions. My passion in the early days was simply to keep my family fit and healthy, but my love for helping people on their way to vibrant health seemed to just take over my life and turned into an amazing career that I genuinely love. I could talk about health and how to regain your va-va-voom all day long!
In the book I talk about how to feed yourself through stressful times and how to constantly bring the body back into balance. That’s all it is! And if you know what combinations of superfoods to eat, and how to make plant-based foods delicious and simple and most importantly, super nutritious, then you’re on to a winner! It’s not about eating lettuce leaves until you are 100 years old. Its about loving life, loving your food, gratitude, sunlight, fresh air, surrounding yourself with good positive people, laughing loads, exercising for fun and just being in the zone of what your body deserves.
The cleaner your diet, the better you feel, the better decisions you can make and the more in tune you are with your life’s purpose.
Life is for Thriving – Not just surviving!
