It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, I am always making up stories in my head. If you catch me staring at you in the supermarket, at a meeting, or on the underground, don’t take it personally, but you probably have a starring role in one of stories.

I collect vintage china, mainly the blue and white art deco cups. Even the dog respects the shelf of china.

Travelling has always been a big part of my life, and through work I have travelled to some amazing places. Top favourites? Bermuda and Mexico.

The main characters in my books are strong independent women. I put them through a lot, and they come out fighting, because that is what women do...

I am a bit of a foodie, and grow my own fruit and vegetables, with help from the kids.

If I am exhausted, have worked a night shift or just need a bit of comfort food it has to be a bacon sandwich with brown sauce.

Writing for me is a compulsion, an obsession and a love. Reading is the same. They are intertwined and I don’t know any writers who do not also have a passion for reading.

Our house is stacked high with far too many books - all genres and for all ages. I really should have a clear out but I know I won’t. Books are precious.

I can write anywhere, because as a working mum, I can’t afford to be picky, so I have trained myself to tap away on my laptop by the local swimming pool, in the car, on the train...

Doing CPR for real is nothing like it is in training, but if you help save a life, that is all that matters.
