Hello! I'm delighted to be here at Female First.
Thank you for letting me introduce me new book, Awaken the Fire. It's book three in my Adventures of Star Lite series and can be read as a stand-alone. (Of course, you'll fall in love with the characters and want to read the other two.) This book starts with a hot little cyber-sex. Star is tucked far away from her lover Adam, to hide her from a group of people, the Vigilar, who are most interested in her unique talent. Star can force a shape shifter to change and the Vigilar know this skill will come in handy. Star, Adam and Tristan, the third member of their group, eventually allow the Vigilar to study all three of them. A dangerous man from Adam's past and a beautiful scientist with a secret join the mix. Well here, let me give you the blurb:
Along with rewards, magic breeds danger. Star, Adam and Tristan submit to study with the secret authoritarian group, the Vigilar, in preparation to reveal the existence of magical beings to the world. But will this knowledge be used for good or evil? Doubts creep in when Star is assigned to work with Lucas, a man from Adam’s past, a man known to have dangerous ideas. Bigger problems arise during a sensual ménage when they discover a shape changer dragon in their midst. Lucas claims the Vigilar plan to use shifters, especially powerful beings like dragons, for malevolent purposes, which puts Star and her special abilities in danger. Adam must devise a strategy to thwart the Vigilar and learn more about this controlling entity. While implementing their plans, Star struggles with the fear of unleashing and learning to control all the powers within her. She struggles, too, with her feelings for Adam. Should she fight against her deepening love for a man who could desire power more than he loves her? The combustion of a potent sexual ritual forces Adam to face the question of their love and for Star to awaken the fire within.
You write for various fiction and non-fiction markets so do you have a preference between the two?
Right now I'm concentrating on fiction, romance in particular. Storytelling is such fun! I have so many great book ideas I want to write and share. I enjoy writing articles too because I love doing research and passing along helpful information. When I get to do Internet investigation for my stories, I'm a happy girl.
Why are you drawn to erotic romance so much?
It's such a great way to explore my characters. Showing them during their most intimate, vulnerable moments reveals their true nature and allows deep feelings to emerge. I like the challenge of describing lovemaking in detail, without going overboard.
Why do you like putting lots of twists and turns on your stories?
Too often, real life gets a little dull. I like to put plenty of excitement in my books to keep readers on the edge of their seat and wanting more. And really, isn't sex more exciting when accompanied by danger? My motto is "Never pass up the opportunity to have an adventure," and I make sure my heroes and heroines live by this saying.
The book has been compared to Sylvia Day and Cherise Sinclair, so how does this make you feel?
Awestruck! To be put in the same category as such talented writers is beyond thrilling.
This is the third book in the Adventures of Star Lite series, so what can you tell us about the first two?
Book one, Out of the Ordinary, starts with Star feeling depressed. She had a horrendous experience on her wedding day and just wants to shut the world out for a while. But of course, that is not to be. She's whisked away to another planet and meets Adam, another human who is also there against his will. The two scheme to escape but end up having to save the planet and its inhabitants. As they work together they develop feelings for each other. Back on Earth in book two, Into the Magic, Star discovers that Adam gave her false contact information and using her newly discovered power, hunts him down. Her intuition tells her it's important to find him. She also meets, Tristan, a powerful magician with strong sexual desires. The three join forces and make magic.
Okay, that's all I'm going to say, I don't want to ruin it for you! Check out my website for blurbs, excerpts, and fabulous reviews. Though it would make me ecstatic if you read all three books, they can each be read alone.
Who are your favorites in this genre?
Oh dear, I'm bad about picking favourites. It's so hard and I love so many. I'll tell you one author I adore, Lisabet Sarai. She knows how to paint a picture with words so vividly I feel like I'm right there with the characters.
When did your love of writing begin?
Long ago. It actually started with a love of reading. Before I had to work full-time, I read an enormous amount of books. *sigh* Those were the days. Now, however, since I have a job, I can spend money on books, so it's kind of a trade-off. Sorry, I got side-tracked. Writing...let's see...I guess my love of writing started when I realised that maybe I could weave magic the way my favourite storytellers do. I put my butt in my chair and my fingers on the keyboard and got typing. To my joy, I found I could write and even get published and share with others.
You live in Florida with your magical cat, so is there a story there?
My first magical cat, Sammy, was nineteen years old. He died last year and a little piece of my heart was broken. I swore I would wait a long time before I got another one. Guess what? That didn't happen! Lola, a beautiful calico girl entered my life last fall and is the perfect companion. She loves to be petted, talks to me constantly and joins me on my yoga mat. The joy she brings me is like magic.
What is next for you?
I'm going to have some fun with fur. I'm starting a werewolf series with a cast of fascinating characters. I check out calls for submissions and occasionally see one I can't resist, so there could be who-knows- what in my future. Join my newsletter list or follow my blog for more information.
Thank you so much for having me here today and letting me share with you. A big thank you to my publisher, Total-E-Bound, for all the work they've put into helping me make my writing dreams come true. *mwah*
