The Wife's House

The Wife's House

.) I’m a hybrid, half American and half British. My mother was from Michigan, but I grew up in England, then went to live in the US. I feel equally at home in both countries.

.) I am dog mad! Apart from a stint in my twenties, I have always had dogs in my life. When I was little, I truly wanted to be a dog. Dogs didn’t have to go to school! My first best friend was my black Labrador, Hugo. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a happy dog.

.) I speak Spanish and French fluently, having lived in both countries. I often dream in Spanish.

.) The idea for THE WIFE’S HOUSE came to me in a dream. I woke up with the triplets telling me I was in their house. The story went from there.

.) The first book that had an impact on me was THE WIZARD OF OZ. It’s a book that has everything: friendship, suspense, mystery, good versus evil, characters who develop into their full selves, a wonderful sense of place. This was the book that made me dream of being a writer.

.) I am also a painter. I paint in oil. Big canvases usually of distant lands like India, and I often depict animals in my paintings.

.) I’m a travel addict. I have traveled all over the world, including South East Asia and India. I adore meeting people from all walks of life, sampling local foods, and learning new things.

.) I’ve restored several homes, getting down and dirty, even plastering walls and tiling floors. I always say, “Never again,” ha,ha. I live in a stone farmhouse in the French countryside with my husband and animals.

.) I’m a hopeless believer in astrology. I always check (Susan Miller, Astrology Zone) what’s in stall for me every month. If she tells me not to sign something on a certain day, I won’t!

.) I use my bed as an office space a lot! My husband brings me coffee every morning in bed. And when I’m on a writing roll, my meals too. The dogs and cats are my muses and hang out with me while I write.
