Change It!

Motivation is my life!

Motivating people to achieve their dreams and desired stages in life is what I live for. There are so many aspects of motivation and change that talking about all of it in just one book wouldn’t do it justice. Happiness and fulfilment can be achieved in so many different ways but finding out the individual path of every person is what brings me joy and happiness myself. Seeing the development in people and being able to help them to realise their goals is a fantastic feeling. Seeing people shine and also taking people with me on the path of finding happiness is a true blessing in my life.

I enjoy working together with young people and help them develop their dreams

From a relatively early age, I have had the pleasure of working at different start-up companies – I can never get enough of the hard work and the sense of purpose that building something from scratch can give you. Developing a service or a product from the ground up really does give a tremendous sense of satisfaction to those involved, especially once their aim has been achieved.

I invest in people, not in companies

Most investors in early-stage start-ups would say the same thing but it is absolutely true. People have amazing ideas about how they can go about changing the world positively, but the ultimate challenge is being the person who is determined to action that change themselves. Investing for me is about making dreams come true and helping the world be a better place for everyone. I am always on the lookout for success stories and I’m always engaging with people who are achieving success at an early age. I enjoy working for free on start-ups and sharing my own experiences as an entrepreneur.

Equality and helping those less fortunate find opportunities is what gives me purpose

As I grew up in Nigeria, Africa, I have seen extreme poverty and the misery it can bring to peoples’ lives first-hand. It is clear for me that helping to create opportunities to give people a meaningful way out of poverty is crucial; young people need to have something to strive for and to believe in even when their circumstances are bleak. We are very fortunate in the UK and for me it’s essential to share, to help others to improve their lives and to achieve what they want. With one of my start-ups in London, we are actually changing living conditions in Africa and are working with local communities to support them now and in the future.

Life and mindfulness education should be part of any educational curriculum

For most of us, leaving school or even graduating from university, we are ill prepared for what life is really about. At school I had a lot of problems, including with alcohol, which left me feeling rudderless and unhappy. Certainly, the current education systems do little to advise us about the deeper aspects of living a worthy life, embracing skills, qualities and activities which make us feel satisfied and which give us purpose. Most of us have different expectations between our dreams and the reality of our lives, and this can often lead to

disappointment. By changing our priorities and our world view, focusing on what nourishes the souls, can make a huge difference to the quality of our lives.

I love people, different cultures, languages and ways of thinking

Other than working in developing countries, I also love travelling and visiting different countries. For me, travelling is something which helps me to understand the world better. It is so exciting seeing different cultures and immersing yourself in different cultures. I like to be as active as possible when I travel; I can’t stand to just laze around in a hotel room, I have to get out there and meet new people, even if they don’t speak English or any other language I can understand. There’s a lot to be said for sign language and communicating with gestures; you can still make a valuable connection with another person and find some common ground. I’ve enjoyed many evenings out, full of laughter and joy, while travelling. In understanding the challenges a foreign community might be facing gives me inspiration in my social work around the world.

Hard work and dedication are my paths towards success

I’ve been working on the start-up scene in London for some time now, and increasingly I can understand that what makes any great leader or professional is hard, smart work. Nothing comes from daydreaming if those dreams are not brought to fruition. The difference between a dream and a reality is the dedication, commitment and passion that goes into bringing it to life. You have to have a laser focus on where you want to be in order to get there. This is an important tool I am always sharing with my clients; if you can envisage the destination then you can map out the journey more easily. My past experiences and my current path towards who I am today were not - and still are not – always easy, but I’m dedicating my life towards the thing that really gives me happiness and purpose and that’s helping other people, investing in people through start-ups firms, and using my drive to build world-changing adventures. If I can do it, it’s possible for anyone.
