I’m named after my paternal grandmother who died a few months before I was born. She’s remembered fondly as a savvy business women who loved to cook – just like me!
I’ve been spontaneously proposed to three times! First, when I was 21. My answer was: Why? I thought the guy was joking, and (thank God) he mostly was. Next, when I was 24. My answer was: I’ve gotta call my mom! Again, I thought the guy had to be joking. Unfortunately, he wasn’t. I hopped out of his car and haven’t spoken to him since. Last, when I was 30. He was very serious and, 7 years later, I’m still very glad my answer was: YES!
I’m a writer now, but I went to law school and earned a Legal Masters degree in tax; which is why I can say with complete confidence that The US tax code is almost, but not quite, as complicated as plotting a novel.
The sequel to The Record Keeper is due two months from today. And, just this morning, I added a major character that requires me to replot the second half. Wish me luck!
My father is a doctor and so is my husband and so is Hosea Khan - the hero of The Record Keeper. I’m no psychologist, but I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
My son, also named Hosea, was born on Friday the 13th.
I’ve never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies.
We’ll be welcoming our second little boy, Christopher Gomillion, this Fall. He’s named after my late mother in law, Christyne Gomillion, who was a savvy business woman that loved to cook – just like me!
I write music and taught myself to play guitar when I was 18, but I’m really not very good at it. Even so, I have a secret YouTube Chanel where I store all of my terrible compositions. Every once in a while, someone stumbles upon it and leaves a disparaging comment.
Before my grandmother passed, my name was going to be Samantha. My mother was going to call me Sam. Sam was the name of the first guy who spontaneously proposed to me. I’m hoping that’s just a coincidence…
