Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy, has signed a deal with publishers HarperCollins and will be writing the "unabridged and unbelievable story" about her daughter, who died earlier this year.
The book will be published in February 2013. In a statement released via AP, Cissy has said that she hopes the book will give her daughter's fans "something to treasure". She said: "When I lost my daughter Nippy, the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman."
She added: "In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter's true story."
Last month it was confirmed that Whitney Houston's family are to feature in their won reality TV show. The fly-on-the-wall programme, titled The Houston Family Chronicles, will feature Cissy as well as the late singer's daughter Bobbi Kristina, her brother Gary, sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, Pat's daughter Rayah and her cousin Dionne Warwick.
In a statement, Rob Sharenow, executive vice-president of programming at Lifetime, who will air the show, said: "The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family."
Whitney Houston died on February 11 at the age of 48, after she was discovered underwater and unconscious in a bath in a hotel in Beverly Hills. On March 22 a coroner revealed the cause of death as drowning combined with heart disease and cocaine use.
