Floating flirtatiously across the wooden boards
Dressed in apple red skirts and scarlet hued hats;
Searching frantically for the music to the chords,
Heads held high as their eyes they bat:
Bounding ne'er and far, this way and that
The whimsical flattery of the red hatters;
The rollicking fiddle all a flitter
Harmonizing a tune, tweaking the strings with a twang,
Wines of red flow freely, some are sweet some are bitter
While in the corner a chameleon hums and by his tail does he hang;
Bounding ne'er and far, this way and that
The whimsical flattery of the red hatters;
Daffodils and perriwinkles dance gleefully up above,
Carrying the Red Hatters in an evening of glee
Dallying naught whilst grabbing the tails of doves
Flittering this way and that as around the room they flee.
Bounding ne'er and far, this way and that
The whimsical flattery of the red hatters:
Shawn Jackson has been writing literature, (childrens books, poetry, etc) since he was 6 years old. 'I have published quite a bit of poetry but never a book. I do have two books finished a part of 7 in the series, they are fictional and written for young adults. I was raised in the plains of the Oklahoma panhandle and have travelled and lived abroad in these here the United States. Writing has always intrigued me most of my life. I do freelance writing online as a job and enjoy it very much. This poem that I am submitting was written by me for a group of elderly ladies who are members of a local group. I was approached and ask to write something that would describe one of their gatherings, (dances).'
