Chicago cartoonist Sarah Moon approaches life’s issues with a healthy dose of sharp wit in her syndicated comic strip Just Breathe.
Something she hasn’t allowed for, however, is her husband Jack’s infidelity so she is shocked and devastated when she stops at her husband’s work site after her latest fertility treatment and finds him with another woman.
When Jack refuses to acknowledge that he has done anything wrong and says he wants a divorce, Sarah trades his car for a mini Cooper and heads for Glenmuir, the small northern Californian town where she grew up.
Somewhat to Sarah’s surprise, the area and people she once couldn’t wait to leave have changed. Family and friends, including Will Bonner, once the high school heart throb, rally round and Sarah starts to relax. That is until she realises that she’s pregnant with her ex’s twins.
It is hardly the most traditional of new beginnings, but who says life and love are predictable or perfect? The winds of change have led Sarah here. Now all she can do is just close her eyes and breathe.
Just Breathe tackles a number of real life issues:
Infertility treatment - the highs and lows
Falling in love again
Moving back to your childhood area
