The cover and title of this book intrigued me enough to want to read it. It also caught my 11 year old daughter's attention so we decided rather than fight over who read it first I would read it out loud!
This wasn’t easy as - showing my ignorance- I couldn’t pronounce some of the characters names and was corrected by my daughter several times!!
It seems that recently touching on both Norse and Greek mythology at school made things a lot clearer to her than they did me.
The books main character Seralina embarks on an unexpected journey in to the afterlife after drinking a tin of one of Idunns finest.
The drink had warned ‘it will make of ye a God’ but Seralina didn’t take any notice until suddenly she found herself sitting on a cloud.
Seralina then tries to make sense of her new surroundings along with a host of weird and wonderful characters she meets along the way.
We really enjoyed this book and couldnt wait to find out what would happen next. I personally could visualise the characters which made it all the more enjoyable to read.
I also loved the humour which helped bring the story to life and bring a sense of fun.
In conclusion both my daughter and myself loved reading this book. It was fun , easy going but at the same time threw in enough names from various mythologies to make my daughter want to find out more, so maybe we could throw in educational?
Read it yourself and find out.
