What do you do once you have read a book? Do you keep it? Do you pass it on to another reader? Do you throw it away? Do you send it to the charity shop? Do you recycle it? Do you sell it at a car boot sale? Do you sell it online? If you’re not sure Edinburgh International Book Festival has the answer!
Have you got a favorite book that you want everyone else to read and enjoy? Edinburgh festival is launching a new book swap event this year in Charlotte Square Gardens and around the rest of Edinburgh.
The main book swap shelf can be found inside the Guardian Spiegel tent. Your favorite books can be left for others to take whilst they are passing through. Each book requires a short piece about why the person should read it and then this process can be repeated for each new person that gets hold of the book!
If this sounds like something for you, all you need to do is bring your favorite book with you to the festival. Sticker inserts can be found on the book shop shelf and fill it in stating why you have picked this book to be passed on and give it a rating. You need to leave your Twitter name for those who have taken your book so they can tell you what they swapped it for. Once you have read your recommended book, return it and then you can repeat the process!
It doesn't matter if its one you enjoyed when you were young- just pass it on!
