Kaleidoscope daydreams
and the hard flesh of sole
on hot cement that moves you to run.
I long for the citrus smell
of lemon love and lime lust,
To pick tomatoes bigger than a fist,
Giggling at the crimson juice
as it signs an unsuspecting chin.
I pine for love
On a Mediterranean tongue -
Sweet Oleander S'agapo
Under stars draped by the Gods
on a canvas of midnight blue.
Sing again for me cicadas
Hum a little louder
And perhaps I'll still hear you.
