PM Tony Blair Lands Star Role In Movie Blockbuster Spoof
LONDON: Friday 8TH June 2007 Hot on the heels of Al Gores Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth, British Prime Minister Rt Hon Tony Blair is set to star in the spoof climate-change movie Global Cool alongside Hollywood stars Sienna Miller (Factory Girl, Layer Cake, Alfie), Heather Graham (The Guru, Austin Powers) and Bollywood legends Amitabh Bachchan and Shekhar Kapur.The short film will premier this weekend at the Bollywood Oscars -the IIFA Film Awards on Saturday June 9th. It will be screened in over 400 million homes on the Indian continent before its general release on cinema, on TV screens across the world and as a pre-film on high profile DVD releases. The spoof movie will receive its internet premier on Sunday 10th June at www.globalcool.orgThe British Prime Minster plays the part of Mr Switch, a Carbon Crusader brought back from the future to warn humanity about the perils of climate-change.Tony Blair said; Ive been preparing for this role for the last ten years. It was great to be part of Global Cool. But remember I was only one of a billion people saving the planet in this movie and they are all stars.The statesmans cameo appearance has inspired some complimentary remarks from his co-stars, in particular Amitabh Bachchan, who has been an Indian household name for nearly forty years. Commenting on Mr Blairs acting ability in the spoof trailer Mr Bachchan says; I was sceptical to say the least, but when he came and auditioned for us I was amazed.The mini-movie is the brainchild of the Global Cool campaign, a celebrity backed campaign to get a billion people to take on the challenge of tackling climate change.
