He has recently worked in Bollywood star, Akshay Kumar's production 'Breakaway,' but stand up comedian Russell Peters isn't a fan of the Bollywood industry. Although 'Breakaway,' will be dubbed in hindi and renamed 'Speedy Singhs,' for the Bollywood cinema.
40-year-old Peter who was born in Canada has Anglo-Indian parents but says he hates Bollywood movies and has never seen one in his life and does not plan to ever star in one either.
Peter told The Pioneer: "I hate Bollywood. The movies are all garbage, just terrible. It's my opinion, obviously there are billions who like and love them. I don't like all the singing, dancing and all the dramatic crying. I have never seen a Bollywood film in my life. I have refused doing it earlier and will do so in future. But I hope some filmmakers take a chance of making real movies."
The comedian also thinks that the actors in Bollywood are just "Pretty faces." He said: "I don't think Indian actors are good, a couple of them are like Anupam (Kher) but not many are there like him in the industry. There are thousand of actors and actresses in the industry but you can count on hand how many of them are really good, rest of them are just pretty faces."
Peter has acted in Hollywood movies before but this movie is his first Indian production with an India starcast. He said he did this movie because the script and character appealed to him and he is very pleased with the final product.
Peters also said he didn't know that Akshay was such a big star before working on the project. He said: "Akshay is cool. I didn't realise how big he was until I met him. He is a nice guy. I didn't expect a guy with such a stature will be so good."
'Breakaway' will be in cinemas this Friday the 23rd of September.
