Karan Johar is remaking 1990 cult gangster film 'Agneepath.' The orginal which was produced by his late father Yash Johar, starred Amitah Bachchan as the lead rol, who won the National Film Award for Best Actor. There has been much anticipation that in Karan's new-age remake he will cast Amitah's son Abhishek Bachchan but it has now been revealed that Abhishek was in fact never even offered the role. The lead role will be going to the hunky Hrithik Roshan who will play Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. The leading actress this time round is beauty Priyanka Chopra but unlike the orginal where lead lady was played by Madhavi who romanced the character of Amitah in the role of a nurse. Priyanka will be playing the role of a prostitute named 'Kaali' in the film. According to BollyNewz.com producer Karan Johar said: "All I can say at the moment is that my Agneepath is radically different from the Agneepath that my father had produced. We’ve completely done away with the South Indian character played by Mithun Chakraborty in the original." The orginal was deeply influenced by American gangster movie 'Scarface' and the remake intends to do the same. Karn added on BollyNewz.com: "My father was very proud of Agneepath. I hope, I don’t let him down with my Agneepath." The film is expected to be released in 2011. FemaleFirst Haleema Shabir
