Lara Dutt is to follow in the footsteps of Partner co-star Salman Khan by turning her talents to scriptwriting.
Lara is working on a script for a film in which she will play the lead. She decided to take this route after feeling that women's roles in films are limited to the love interest.
She said: "Scriptwriters in Bollywood aren't writing anything in depth for the role of a woman. The scripts glorify the hero while the heroine is merely the love interest, and I think itâs high time in my career that I do more meaningful roles so, I have penned a women-oriented film."
She said though that the project is not a feminist film: "My movie has equal space for the male and the female protagonists. The male lead will have a lot to contribute to my film."
Salman has written the film Veer, in which he plays the lead.
