The makers of Nagesh Kukunoor's film Aashayein, which stars John Abraham, have been taken to court by Big Pictures, who claim that they will not release the film as it is not commercial enough.
It seems that John does not sell unless he reveals all.
Big Pictures was to distribute Aashayein but has filed a case against the movies producers because they felt that the film did not live up top their expectations.
Producers, Percept Picture Company and T-Series can not release the film until the case has been resolved. It has been filed in the Delhi High Court.
A spokesman for Big Pictures said: "We were not happy with Aashayein's final draft. We were promised something and they delivered something altogether different. Big Pictures had felt that the film would be a commercial proposition but it is, in fact, an art film."
Nagesh Kukunoor's trusted lieutenant Elahe Hiptoola said: "But a Nagesh Kukunoor film is a Nagesh Kukunoor film, no matter who acts in it. Nagesh is a terrific filmmaker. I don't understand why Big Pictures is unhappy with the film now. We had arranged a special screening for them in July. They saw the film and sent us a text message saying that they loved the film and John was brilliant in it."
This all sounds like a messy affair that we bet John could do without.
