The 'Global Indian Music Awards' ('GIMA,') seen National Award-winning movie 'Dabangg' get six awards, including best film album. The star studded event was held in India last night.
Hit track from 'Dabangg' 'Munni Badnaam' sung by Mamta Sharma won the 'Best Music Debut.' The 'Best Music Director' award went to Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit for their compositions in the movie.
'Dabangg' which stars actor Salman Khan, also won the technical awards for the 'Best Background Score' by Sandeep Shirodkar, 'Best Engineer-film Album' by Eric Pillai and 'Best Engineer-theatre Mix' for Leslie Fernandes.
Putting up a fierce fight agaisnt' Dabangg' was the movie: 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai,' which received four awards. Including the 'Best Film Song' for track 'Pee Loon,'for which Mohit Chauhan was awarded in the playback singer-male category while Irshad Kamil took home the best lyricist trophy.
Oscar Award-Winner A.R. Rahman, who has composed music for international films like 'Slumdog Millionaire' and '127 Hours,' was honoured with the title of 'Global Indian Musician.'
The show which was hosted by Bollywood stars, Ranveer Singh and Neha Dhupia also had a number of hip-shaking, dazzling performances.
