Yahoo! India has announced the launch of ‘Movieplex,’ an online advertiser-supported video service allowing users in India to watch full-length Bollywood movies on the internet – for free.
Yahoo! India will be collaborating with Bollywood’s leading movie production houses to bring viewers Bollywood blockbusters for a piracy-free, high quality entertainment experience.
According to The Hindu newspaper Yahoo! India Managing Director Arun Tadanki said: “With the increasing demand for online video, both consumers and content providers are looking for a trusted destination where quality content can be consumed in a piracy-free environment at their leisure. Movieplex is an example of how Yahoo! connects people to what matters to them the most and Indian movie lovers now have the best full-length movies available to them at their convenience.”
Currently eight movies have been uploaded on the site including: 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji,' 'Rock On,' 'Crook' and 'Lamhaa.'
Yahoo ‘Movieplex,’ is following in the footsteps of Google’s free movie service ‘Box Office’ on YouTube. The Box Office which premiered a few months ago is proving to be highly popular among audiences.
