Akshay Kumar's new Bollywood film, Chandni Chowk to China has been banned in Nepal by their Maoist government.
The banning comes after angry protests over a reference made in the film to India been the birth place of Lord Buddah. Nepali film censorship authorities removed that scene but many people had already seen the unedited version on illegal DVDs smuggled across the border.
Narayan Prasad Regmi, spokesman of the Information and Communications Ministry said: "We have banned the film from been screened throughout Nepal. Our censor board had struck the controversial comments in the film before approving it for screening. But considering the popular sentiments we have banned it.
At least two demonstrations were organised in Kathmandu after the film opened on Thursday with protestors demanding that it was banned.
The films narrator is heard saying Buddha was born in India.
