Palatial sets, period costumes, a forceful leading man, mix this with colour, passion, sex and controversy and it all adds up to Ketan Mehta's upcoming movie Rang Rasiya, a tribute to India's 19th century painter Raja Ravi Varma's life. Based on Marathi Ranjit Desai's novel, the film stars Randeep Hooda as Raja Ravi Varma and Nandana Sen as Sugandha, one of his muses. This big budget production has been well researched and as such the preview indicates this will be an excellent movie.Ketan Mehta acquired the rights for the novel Raja Ravi Varma by Marathi author Ranjit Desai to turn the novel into a silver screen production. Mehta employed art director Nitin Desai to design the sets, and Niharika Khan to do the costume design's because he felt they fitted the criteria required for this historical film.The trailer was heavily loaded with sensuous scenes between Randeep and Nandana, which sets the tone of the storyline, though some of the scenes may fall foul of the censor the audience should see the film in it's entirety before passing judgement. An English version of the film titled Colours of Passion will also be released.
