Anil Kapoor was so moved by the script of 'Gandhi, My Father', that he was in tears by the time he finished reading it.The actor told the assembled crowds in the capital just how much the script moved him adding that he was not the only one to be left with wet-eyed.'When we read the script we were all in tears,' he said.And though he's had a lot of hits under his belt, Anil insisted that the movie, which is also his first as a producer, is by far one of the best ones of his career.'This is by far one of the best films I have done in my entire career. I felt that I must make this film,' he said.Director Feroz Abbas Khan speaking at the same event revealed why he had decided to take on a period film, especially one that dwells into the life of the Mahatma's relationship with his son Harilal Gandhi.Telling the throng 'You don't make a period film because you need to do it. You do it to ask the question how does it connect with you now. And it is this that drove me while writing the film, directing the film and then editing it with Shekhar Prasad.'The director added that he now realised that it is the values and principles that Gandhi stood for that hurt his son and his family, but if is those same values that made a nation.

Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi was full of praise for it.saying he admired the courage shown by the filmmaker in being very, very balanced in the manner in which he had portrayed this tragedy between a father and a son, a mother and a son, and two sides of a husband and a wife,' he said.

Filmed in South Africa and India, the movie is set for release August 3rd
