First there were rumours that Aishwarya Rai was to be immortalised as a Barbie then Katrina Kaif took to the stage as Barbie at Lakme Fashion Week and now it seems a full scale war has broken out over which Bollywood star is the true Barbie girl.
Katrina has claimed that Aishwarya was never in the running to be the face of the doll. She claimed that she was the first Indian to get the privilege, despite the fact she owns a British passport.
Aishwarya on the other hand has kept a dignified silence. She refused to comment on the Barbie deal due to professional commitments but her representatives have been talking. They say that Aishwarya was the original choice but she turned them down as she could not fulfil the Fashion Week show due to prior film commitments.
A statement issued by Aishwarya’s spokesperson said: "Mattel was keen to have the actress walk the ramp on Lakme Fashion Week ‘Barbie dolled up’ in a winning design as Single Likeness Barbie, which would be unveiled and auctioned for a charity of her choice."
There have been many attempts to model a doll on Aishwarya ever since she won the Miss World title in 1994.
