Aishwarya Rai originally turned down an honour from the French government as she did not want to accept it without her dad who has been unwell.
Aishwarya has been awarded the Officer Dan Ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres honour by the French authorities, the second highest civilian award which has also been given to Shahrukh Khan.
Aishwarya said: "I wanted my entire family - and that includes my parents, brother, sister-in-law, my husband and his parents, sister and brother-in-law - to be there. My father has been unwell and I wanted him to be there at this important moment."
"It will be a glorious moment. But not without my father!"
Fortunately the actress' father is now on the mend and she has informed the authorities to prepare for the ceremony. She said: "My father will have to brave the long flight. Thereâs a long list of dos and don'ts for him. But worth it, don't you think."
