Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have been awarded the top civilian honour, Padma Shree, by the Indian government.
Aishwarya was delighted with the honour and the recognition of her contribution to the film industry.
She said: "I am thrilled to hear that the government has accorded me such a big honour."
Aishwarya's father in law Amitabh Bachchan spoke of how happy he was in his blog.
He said: "Aishwarya’s Padma decoration is the fifth in the family. My father received Padmabhushan, myself with (two) Padmashri and Padmabhushan and Jaya was recipient of Padmashri. Five Padma awards are in one family. God is generous and kind."
