Universal Music Group (UMG) and U.K.based Desi Hits have signed a worldwide recording agreement with Bollywood actress and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra.
The 29-year-old will be managed by Troy Carter,chief executive of LA-based Atom Factory, non other than the fabulous Lady Gaga's manager.
Priyanka is the first major international star signing for Desi Hits. And the first Bollywood act to release an album internationally.
Desi Hits which was founded in 2010 in partnership with UMG, has been producing remix collaborations featuring top singers like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears, with their songs getting an Indian flavoured makeover.
Priyanka who has always had a passion for singing, will be writing and singing in English and work on her first album has already begun.
She tells The Times of India: "I have been terribly busy with films, but over the last six months I have been travelling to the U.S and meeting producers for my music album. I have always enjoyed singing and it has come naturally to me. But when I did it I wanted to do it right, which is why the delay. It will be a pop album because that's the kind of music I enjoy the most."
She also reveals that there could be a duet in the works with Gaga: "It's too early to say, but yes there will be collaborations. Lady Gaga has been very kind and said some really nice things about me. She's absolutely adorable and we would give her a grand welcome when she comes to India."
The stunning star has also received a huge amount of support and praise from fellow Bollywood buddies on Twitter.

Universal Music UK Chairman and chief executive David Joseph tells The Hollywood Reporter that: "Bollywood has had Priyanka to itself for too long. She has exceptional talent and we look forward to launching her recording career around the world.”
