The world's biggest venomous spider has been found in the UK.
Terrified workers at a shipping port in Hull discovered the huge Huntsman in a container after it had survived a 5,000-mile journey from China.
The creature is native to Australia and, although it is not deadly, a bite can cause headaches, vomiting and heart palpitations in humans.
The spider was eventually captured by RSPCA staff after it moved threateningly towards staff at the docks.
A spokesman said: "He fancied a holiday so he hopped on a shipping container in China and ended up in Hull.
"He gave staff quite a fright."
The insect is now being held at a specialist rescue centre.
A similar incident occurred in 2020, when another Huntsman was discovered in a shipment of chairs that had arrived at a warehouse in Suffolk.
